What we collect

FaceOff collects the following information when you use the app:

• Your phone number or email address, used to create and identify your account
• Your battle history and rankings, stored to power your personal list
• Contacts, only if you grant permission — used to find friends already on FaceOff

How we use it

Your data is used solely to operate the app — generating your rankings, syncing across devices, and connecting you with friends. We do not sell your data to third parties or use it for advertising.

Third-party services

FaceOff uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication and data storage
• TMDB — movie and TV show metadata (posters, titles, years)
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI-powered recommendations, based on your rankings

Data retention & deletion

Your account and rankings are retained as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at brett@roomie.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Children's privacy

FaceOff is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To exercise these rights, contact us at brett@roomie.com. If you are located in the European Union or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA respectively, including the right to data portability and the right to know what personal information we have collected about you.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encrypted transmission and secure cloud storage via Firebase. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
